Eroticism, derived from the Ancient Greek term “eros,” encompasses both the capacity to evoke sexual feelings and a philosophical exploration of the aesthetics related to sexual desire, sensuality, and romantic love.
“I consider the female sex as the supreme and universal beauty, the ultimate center we all originate. I don’t usually include faces in my images. My aim is not really to capture a model’s seduction, but to highlight the magnetic connection with the beauty of the female sex, in order to shed light on what it can reveal about individuals and society,” says Franz Scapra.
This perspective aligns with some artistic and expressive nature associated with erotic photography, when the human form is used as a means of exploring deeper themes, emotions, and societal reflections. It suggests an intention to go beyond mere aesthetics and delve into the symbolic aspects of the feminine form.
From the darkroom printing to the digital age, Franz Scapra has been photographing the nude feminine form since 1987. After a successful creative career, he redirected his energies towards nude photography in the mid-2010s. This website is the first to showcase his photographic world.
